Saving the Old Tin Messenger

These mailboxes represent a time that was
a little gentler, a little kinder and a lot less complicated.

When was the last time you had a hand written letter or card in the mail.
I don't even think the mail gets deliverd
to boxes like this anymore.

They look so sad.

I found a tattered mailbox at a junk store and
decided to take it home with me.

Here is my little tutorial.

Clean it up a little.  I loved the time worn
condition of mine so I left it the way it was.

Come up with a couple of words and print
them off.  Transfer paper works great
for those of us less artistic.

I had this old base from a birdhouse that
I backed into and squished.
Old stair posts work great.  Just add a base
and a flat top.  I used some old crown on the
bottom of this one.

Assemble

And enjoy.

A couple of other uses for these old
tin messengers:

Towel holders for your hot tub or pool.

Everyone love another fabulous planter.

The paper boy/girl may actually use it instead
of where ever the toss lands.

The inbox at your office.

I am sure there are many more but I am off
to bed.  Share your ideas.  I love reading the
comments.

This is so adorable. Letter writing is a lost art these days. It is sad, but I love what you did with the old mailbox.

Hello! Hello! Daisy Express,
I almost feel as if this charming mailbox is whispering a few love quotes to me... receiving a love letter would be nice... at least I did catch a word or two. Inspiring, thank you!
